We know you might have questions about what it looks like to work with us, so we’ve included some frequently asked questions from our clients throughout the years to help you get a good grasp on what we do (and don’t do!).

 

General

  • At Savvy Bird Consulting, we provide one-on-one QuickBooks® training for small business owners, tailored to your unique workflows, habits and skill level. Our niche is small businesses and we really love helping your business succeed by ensuring your finances are in tip-top shape.

  • Yes! Each team member is a Certified QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor at a minimum. Additional certifications some of the team have include QuickBooks Online Payroll, QuickBooks Desktop, and Advanced QuickBooks Online ProAdvisor.

    As we continue to grow our client base and team, and get to know you and your specific needs, we continue to gain more certifications and skills so we can best serve you, and be an encouraging and knowledgeable resource to our small business community.

  • Yes! If you don’t already have a QuickBooks Online subscription, we can talk about options and discounted pricing at our first session so you don’t need to stress about purchasing that before you meet with us.

  • That’s great! We’ll be able to jump in and get started in no time.

    Note: We don’t support QuickBooks Self-Employed, but if you do have that program, we can help you transfer to the small business editions. If you have the desktop version of QuickBooks, we can help you transfer to QuickBooks Online, too.

  • Potentially, depending on the kind of tax help you need. We help clients with their payroll taxes, sales and use taxes, and 1099 compliance (check out our online course on this here >), but we don’t prepare income tax returns.

    Why? The SBC team are not licensed paid tax preparers (CPA/EA) and will not be able to help you prepare your income tax returns. We can, however, help you prepare for tax season by ensuring your finances are looking good.

    If you need tax support, we recommend these apps to DIY and can provide referrals to trustworthy income tax preparers if you’d like. Contact us for more information!

  • Yes, you'll receive a copy as soon as you accept the proposal. We will store one on file if you ever misplace it.

Bookkeeping

  • Of course you can! However, we know as a small business owner it can be tough to manage it all on your own. That’s why we’re here! We’ll help you understand how to use QBO software and cut down the time it takes to learn a new system, so you can build a solid foundation for your bookkeeping quickly and easily.   • Absolutely, that’s what we do! We help our clients get caught up on their finances, clean up their books and figure out the best strategy for their bookkeeping moving forward.

    After our initial meeting with you, we’ll send you a proposal with an estimate of how much work is necessary and a quote for a price. We’ll request a down payment before getting started, and we’ll also need to obtain all of the necessary documentation to clean up your books before we get started. No work will be started until we receive all of that information.

  • No, our team are not CPAs, so we are unable to perform any compilations, reviews or audits. These are called “attestation” services and can only be performed by a CPA.

    If you’re looking for more of a “look over” of your books to make sure you’re utilizing the QuickBooks Online software correctly and your finances are on the right track, we offer a “Bookkeeping Tune-Up!” Contact us to sign up.

  • Yes, we are here for you! We excel in helping you organize your books and figure out the best strategy for your bookkeeping moving forward.

  • This is probably our favorite place to start with clients! We love having training sessions with clients before they even have the software and they’re just building their new baby business.

    We can help you think through which type of entity you’d like to set up, if you need to collect sales taxes on your sales, determine the differences between hiring contractors and employees, and that’s just the beginning!

 

Pricing

  • Depending on the service provided, you will receive either a flat rate or hourly rate.

    Training is generally provided at a rate of $85 per hour.

    Bookkeeping services can have a large range depending on the services desired, the number of transactions and the complexity of the record keeping. Since we focus on very small businesses, our range varies from $50-500+ per month.

    Additional services like accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, sales tax, etc. all incur an additional flat rate fee.

  • For monthly service clients: Simply enter your payment details into our system’s secure payment gateway, and your invoices will be set up with automatic payment. We’ll receive payment for services at the beginning of each month in line with our payment terms.

    Please note: Payments will automatically collect through Ignition once you have added your payment information and could appear on your bank statement as PRACTICE IGNITION or SAVVY BIRD CONSU depending on your bank.

    For periodic training clients: Click the Review and pay link in the emailed invoice you receive. This will route you to a secure site where you can enter your payment information. If you’re logged into your Intuit account, you can save your payment information for next time. This will not be saved in our files, but with Intuit.

  • Yes, our proposals and invoices provide a secure, automated direct payment system which will automatically collect all one-time and monthly payments. Your payment information is encrypted, meaning we can't see your details or share them with anyone else.
